One-and-a-half hour sessions, half-day, full-day and longer residency workshops are available for all ages and numbers of participants.

Whether it is a “drop-in” session for mixed age groups or a structured workshop for the same participants throughout, we adapt to meet your aims for presenting a workshop. During our full-day workshops in schools all pupils participate non-stop throughout the day and a performance is presented by those taking part as a climax to the day.

Magic Carpet have presented Drama, Magic and Circus skills workshops with Chinese, Italian, Irish and British youngsters of all ages, with children and young adults with special needs, in Secure Units, in Nursery schools, in theatres and at many festivals including Galway Arts Festival, Edinburgh Festival and Hogmanay Festival.

Magic Carpet were asked to work with pupils from Frederick Holmes Special School to create a Circus Show - Freddie's Famous Fantastic Circus, as part of an Artability Festival. Financed and organised by Hull & East Yorkshire Ability, with support from Arts Council England, ArtLink Exchange, Big Lottery Fund and others, it was a splendid celebration of performing arts by youngsters with special needs.

With the direction of Magic Carpet performers and assistance from designers, Dave Whatt and Chris Lee and lighting expertise from Tony at Tega lighting hire, Frederick Holmes’ school pupils transformed their hall into a Big Top. Costumes were designed and made, music selected and troupes of electric wheelchair elephants and horses created.

A full circus show, presented live on three occasions, and on Big-Screen video at Hull’s Ferens Art Gallery, was enjoyed by fellow pupils, parents, carers and visitors from other schools and it attracted great press coverage and excellent comments.
