If your little boy is mad on Monsters Inc why not have a fun birthday children’s party based on Mike Wysocki!!

INVITATIONS:

Invitations can be bought as there are lots of merchandise from the Monsters Inc film, but invitations can be downloaded from the internet of ‘Mike Wysocki’ and stick them onto card.  The invitations could say ‘You’re invited to a party for Sam’s 5th birthday’ it also has to have important information like: Date Time Place RSVP info.

DECORATIONS:

A poster board sign for the entrance that can say; Welcome to Sam’s MONSTER of a party! with a clipart Mike on it too.  For the tables,  fill metal buckets with glass beads, blowers, & clipart Mike on sticks and attach balloons.  You can do lime green balloons and attach cut-out eyeballs & smiles to make the balloons look like Mike.

PARTY BAGS:

Since Mike is the comedian of Monsters Inc. buy joke books to fill the bags.  Also bubbles for younger brothers and sisters at the party.  To the books & the bubbles, tie suckers and a tag that says thank you for coming to my MONSTER of a party with a Mike clipart.  Use round suckers and glue a lime green circle & big wiggly eye to them to look like Mike.

FOOD:

Simple and easy food, like pizzas, popcorn, jelly and sandwiches, put a little green food dye on to make them more monstrous!! For dessert, served choc chip ice cream with a Mike cake.  Use plain lime green plates, napkins, cups, etc. Great fun for all the kids.

Decorate your Toy Story party to look like Woody’s Roundup, Andy’s Room, a toy store or outer space! Here are some other ideas to inspire you when planning a children’s party.

  • Hang paper airplanes from the ceiling with fishing line so the planes look like they’re flying.

  • Use toys and green plastic army men as balloon weights.

  • Use a Buzz Lightyear or Woody pillowcase as a chair cover for the birthday child.

  • Decorate in lime green, blue, white and red for a Buzz Lightyear party or red, gold, cow pattern, and denim for a Woody party.

  • Have the birthday child or adults dress as characters from the movie.

It’s difficult to watch Disney’s classic movie The Lion King and not fall in love with all the characters and music. If your child can’t stop singing “Hakuna Matata” then it may be time to invite your favourite little animals over for a royal birthday celebration! Below are some ideas for you to pounce on including suggestions for Lion King children’s party invitations, decorations, food, favours and games.

Lion King Party Planning & Invitations

In addition to basic jungle party supplies, like plates, cups, napkins and decorations, you may want to consider purchasing, borrowing or renting the following items for your Lion King party:

  • The Lion King on DVD or Blu-Ray

Invitations Ideas

From the classic rectangle invitation with eye-catching graphics to a lightsaber replica made from paper, there are many different styles of invitations to choose from. Another great idea is using your DIY skills and some downloads to achieve a completely custom look.

Unique, homemade invitations can really get you in the party mood! If you have the time, here are a few Star Wars invitation ideas to consider:

Cut a piece of white cardstock into the shape of a lightsabre. Use markers to colour the handle grey and the beam blue or green. Write your party details in silver marker on the beam. Alternatively, fold a piece of cardstock in half, cut out two small lightsabers and cross them together in the middle of the card. On the front of the card, write, “You are Invited to a Galaxy Far, Far Away…” Write your party details inside.

  • Print out movie stills from the birthday child’s favourite Star Wars movie. Write your party details on the back.

  • Punch a hole in the corner of a card-style invitation and attach it to a Star Wars Mask that your guests can wear to the party.

  • As each guest enters the party area, give them mouse ears to wear! You may even want to hand out white gloves to the boys and big pink hair bows to the girls.

  • Cut large Mickey Mouse heads out of black construction paper and tape them to the walls. To add to this, write one guest’s name on each cut-out in big block letters. This will make all your guests feel special!

  • Set out Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and other stuffed animals that your child already owns. Group them together for a great centrepiece or stack them on one corner of a blanket that you set out for free play.

Children’s birthday parties don’t have to break the bank. In fact, you can throw a successful and fun birthday party for your child, no matter what the age, in your very own home.

1. Invitations

These are fairly cheap on their own, and you can usually find some fun options at your local newsagents. But if you’re more into customization, online printing services like Vista print are a great option, and usually have a fast turnaround time. If you’d rather get crafty, go to your local hobby craft store and pick out some fun paper and stamps to put your own personal touch on them. This may take a little more time and isn’t the most budget-friendly, but are definitely has a personal touch!

2. Venue

Obviously the cheapest venue will be in your own home. If your kids party is in the warmer months, definitely take advantage of any outdoor space so everyone can run around. If you’re stuck inside, try moving many of your bigger pieces of furniture out of the main area to make room for activities. Line the edges of the walls with chairs and tables with refreshments. Or set up a buffet in the kitchen or dining room and shuffle the guests into the main living area to enjoy them. Be creative with your space. If you’re willing to use a little more of your budget on the venue, have a look at your local bowling alley, soft play, or go-cart companies, that help you avoid the mess at home!

3. Decorations

This is definitely the fun part, and where you can let your thrifty creativity shine through! You can save money by choosing solid colours for plates and cups, rather than spending a lot of money for 10 Frozen paper cups. Children’s party entertainment is the best place to spend your budget, since you’ll be hiring professionals to make your party amazing. This little boy was mad on Monsters Inc and he wanted anything to do with Mike Wysocki!!

Invitations can be bought as there are lots of merchandise from the Monsters Inc film, but for these invitations we downloaded from the internet was a cute picture of ‘Mike Wysocki’ from the internet and stuck them onto card.  The invitations said ‘You’re invited to a pool party for Jacob’s 5th birthday’ it also had important information like: Date Time Place RSVP info.

DECORATIONS: 

Since the party was at a pool, there was no need for a lot of party decorations.  We had a poster board sign for the entrance that said Welcome to Jacob’s MONSTER of a party! with a clipart Mike on it too.  For the tables, we filled metal buckets with glass beads, blowers, & clipart Mike on sticks and attached balloons.  I did lime green balloons and attached cut-out eyeballs & smiles to make the balloons look like Mike.

Throw a World Cup Football Party

With the World Cup just around the corner, we’ve all been given the excuse to don our England shirts once again, gather around the TV in the middle of the day and wait with baited breath to see if this could finally be our year?

However, what about the little ones in your life? The World Cup is a great opportunity to throw a fun, football-themed party for your kids and their friends. It’s also a handy opportunity to get them thinking about different cultures, as well as potentially getting them into a new sport.

Here are our tips for throwing a World Cup party this summer.

Setting the Date

It just wouldn’t be right to throw a football party without watching a football game. You can find all of the England team’s upcoming fixtures throughout the Cup on the Web.

Fancy Dress

Get all of the children to come as a famous footballer – past or present – from a different competing country. You can find out all the nation’s taking part and you can buy replica kits from most sports shops or online, or the kids can get crafty and put together their own.

Invitations

Making your own invitations is a great way to put in that little bit of extra effort. You can also use the invites as the big reveal, to let the kids know which nation’s kit they’ll be dressing up in.

Write the names of all of the competing nations onto bits of paper and place them in a hat. Get your child to help you randomly pull out a piece of paper for each guest who will be attending. You can then theme each invite based on which team they will need to be dressed up as – decorating them with the specific nation’s flag is a great idea. 

Decorations

When it comes to decorations, flags are the obvious way to go. In the spirit of embracing different cultures, don’t just stick with the England flag. Cover the children’s party venue in flags from all of the competing nations, for a colourful display.

You can also get themed table-ware such as a goal table setting.

Food

The food is where you can really start to get adventurous – and get the kids to try something new as well! Get busy in the kitchen and make a variety of dishes from competing nations. Here are some great ideas:

England

Fish and chips is the go-to-dish and is guaranteed to go down well with any fussier kids. For an easy option you can try fish fingers.

France

Great French dishes to serve include a yummy Provencal omelette cake (great for vegetarians too!) and French Toast.

Spain

Try serving some tapas dishes to bring some Spanish flavour to your party. Simple dishes such as potato chunks and salsa tortillas are usually safe bets. Italy

If you’re looking for child-friendly party dishes from around the world, you’d be silly to leave Italy off the list. Make some large pasta dishes such as lasagne for everyone to tuck into and try your hand at some home-made pizza.

Children’s Party Activities

Five-a-Side Football

The most obvious activity – if it’s not chucking it down – is five-a-side football. Split the kids into teams, set up two goals and let them burn off some energy!

Football Relay Course

Buy some cones online and set up a relay course. Split the kids into teams – the first team to have every member dribble a ball around the cones and back wins.

Penalty Shoot Out

Split the kids into teams and put an adult in goal. Each child gets two attempts to score a goal – the team that achieves the most goals wins.

Guess the Flag

Turn the decorations into a fun learning activity and get the kids to guess which country each flag represents.

Hand out prizes to the winners.

Party Bags

Handing out themed party bags at the end of the event is a great way to thank everyone for coming and make sure they have a reminder of the day.
